About Professor Ruth Hubbard

Ruth Hubbard is a Consultant Geriatrician and Director of General and Geriatric Medicine at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane. She is also the Masonic Chair of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Queensland.

She is passionate about improving care for older people and leads a research group investigating the measurement, management and mechanisms of frailty. 

Prof Hubbard is the inaugural Director of the Australian Frailty Network and leads a Centre of Research Excellence

Ruth has generated more than $27M in research funding in the last five years and is currently ranked number 3 in a list of frailty experts worldwide.

About Professor Leon Flicker

Leon Flicker is the inaugural Professor of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Western Australia since 1998. He is Executive Director of the Western Australian Centre for Health and Ageing. He led the reorganisation of undergraduate and postgraduate education in geriatric medicine in Western Australia, and he is a consultant geriatrician at Royal Perth Hospital. 

About Professor Mark Hughes

Mark is Professor of Social Work at Southern Cross University and Editor in Chief of the Australasian Journal on Ageing.

He is a member of the Australian Research Council College of Experts and has received ARC, NHMRC, and MRFF funding for research funding related to LGBTQ+ ageing, carer involvement in delirium management, and the production, use and impact of social work research.

Mark is current lead CI on a MRFF project on co-creating rainbow-inclusive care for gender and sexually diverse people in residential aged care.
